Bullying is a major problem in our schools and many people don't know how to recognize it or report it.
As a mother of three children that attend Carmel Clay Public Schools, I felt that not enough is being done to educate the community about how to recognize the signs of bullying, how to report bullying, the effects of bullying, and how to prevent it. I gained background information, assessed need, and identified a challenge through online research and speaking with other parents in my community. After conducting my research, I realized the need for action was greater than I originally expected. Many resources are available online, however, many families do not know these resources exist or lack access to them. In order to raise awareness in my community, I decided to create flyers to hand out to all students that attend Carmel Clay Public Schools. The flyers would contain information about bullying and offer families additional resources such as phone numbers, e-mail, websites, and addresses to local support systems.
